Ilya Levinsky
Ilya Levinsky was born in Baku, Azerbaijan and studied singing at the Baku Academy of Music. He was a principle soloist at the Komische Oper for five years, where his repertoire included Ramiro in 'La Cenerentola', Rinuccio in 'Il Trittico', Fenton in 'Falstaff', Alfredo in 'Die Fledermaus', Tamino in 'Die Zauberflöte' and Beppe in 'I Pagliacci'. He has also spent two years as a principle soloist at Frankfurt Opera where his list of roles expanded to include Nemorino in 'L'Elisir d'Amore', Rodolfo in 'La Bohème', Dmitri in 'Boris Godunov', Italian Singer in 'Der Rosenkavalier' and Lensky in 'Eugene Onegin'.
Among Mr. Levinsky's guest operatic appearances are Ernesto in 'Don Pasquale' at Welsh National Opera, Sinodal in 'Der Dämon' at Bregenz Festspiele, Konzerthaus Wien and Théâtre du Châtelet Paris, 'Le Coq d'Or' at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, 'Don Carlo' at Salzburger Festspiele, 'Boris Godunov' at L'Opéra du Toulouse, Macduff in 'Macbeth' at New York City Opera and 'Die Zauberflöte' at Teatro Real Madrid and Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona.
Mr. Levinsky's concert repertoire includes Scriabin No. 1, Rachmaninov 'Francesca da Rimini' performed with the London Philharmonic and Vladimir Ashkenazy, 'Oedipus Rex', 'Le Rossignol', 'The Bells', and Rossini's Stabat Mater.
