Giorgio Battistelli

Askonas Holt are delighted to represent the Italian composer Giorgio Battistelli. Born in 1953, Battistelli’s compositional output is prolific with a large number of his works linked to the theatre, all variously described as “Operas”, monodramas, ballets or stage concerts. His music theatre work includes “The Embalmer” (2002) and “The Cenci” (1997) both premiered at the Almeida Theatre, “Richard III” (2005), based on the Shakespeare, for the Vlaamse Opera, and “Experimentum Mundi”, a work of imaginative music on texts taken from the Encyclopedie, which has so far been given over 200 performances through out the world.

Forthcoming Battistelli performances include “Miracolo a Milano” at the Parco della Musica and a new commission for La Scala, Milan.
