Daniil Shtoda

Daniil Shtoda has been described as a 'wunderkind' with comparisons to Gedda, Wunderlich and other noted lyric tenors of the past. In his young career, the artist has already made notable appearances in recital at the Edinburgh Festival, Wigmore Hall, St John's Smith Square. He also caught the attention of EMI Classics who recorded a solo recital disc as part of their 'Debut' Series which was voted 'Recording of the Week' by the Sunday Times and 'Recording of the Month' by BBC Music Magazine. Claudio Abbado also invited him to sing the role of Fenton in the new recording of 'Falstaff' with Bryn Terfel on the Deutsche Grammophon label.

He made his debut at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, and has appeared subsequently at the Washington Opera, at the Aix-En-Provence Festival and at the Chatelet Theatre in Paris. He has also performed Lensky at the Metropolitan Opera. He made is debut at the Royal Opera House singing Beppe in I' Pagliacci' conducted by Antonio Pappano and Placido Domingo. He has also debuted as Laertes in 'Hamlet' at the Gran Teatre del Liceu.

A celebrated recitalist, he has appeared at the Wigmore Hall, at the Edinburgh Festival, at the Concertgebouw, the auditorium du Louvre, the Monnaie, the Verbier Festival and most recently at the Theatre du Chatelet. Daniil has also recently completed his second tour of North America where he appeared at the Kennedy Center Washington DC, Spivey Hall Atlanta and Cornell University. He has already made appearances at Carnegie Hall, San Diego Opera, Vancouver, William Jewell College, and in Montreal. His future recital plans include Carnegie Hall, the Mozarteum in Salzburg, the Opera de Lausanne and a return to the Wigmore Hall.

Recent appearances include engagements at the Florence Opera with Zubin Mehta for 'Falstaff'- a production that will also tour Japan, as well as appearances at the Salzburg Festival for 'Mozart and Salieri'. Daniil will also participate in the world tour of the Mariinsky Academy performing the complete Shostakovich Song Cycles led by Larissa Gergieva. Further operatic engagements include Don Ottavio in 'Don Giovanni' and Ferrrando in 'Cosi Fan Tutte' for the Teatro Carlo Felice, Genoa, Arbace in 'Idomeneo' with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra conducted by Daniel Harding in Salzburg and 'Mozart and Salieri' at the Paris Opera

Daniil's future performances include appearances at the Canadian Opera in Toronto for "Eugene Onegin" (Lensky), the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra (Mozart & Salieri), RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra (Berlioz Requiem), the Japan Tour with Prague Opera (La Traviata) as well as the National Symphony Orchestra Washington for "Eugene Onegin" (Lensky)
