Ceri Williams

Ceri Williams

Born in Wales, mezzo-soprano Ceri Williams studied at the Welsh College of Music and Drama.

Her recent engagements have included Frugola (Il Tabarro) at the Opéra National de Lyon and in St Etienne; Anna (Les Troyens) in Stuttgart and Erda (Siegfried) at the English National Opera.

At the Deutsche Oper, Berlin, she has sung many roles including Ulrica in concert with Michail Jurowski, Brigitta (Die Tote Stadt), Frugola and Ciesca (Il Triticco), Erda, Schwerleite (Die Walküre) and Erste Norne (Götterdämmerung). She is also a regular guest at the Leipzig Opera where she has sung Anna and Annina (Der Rosenkavalier). At the National Theater, Mannheim, her roles have included Amneris (Aida), Ulrica (Un ballo in maschera), Erda, Erste Norne and Azucena (Il Trovatore).

Her future engagements include a return to Stuttgart for Anna; Erda , Schwerleite and Erste Norne in the Nationale Reisopera's new ring cycle and Erste Norne for the Teatro La Fenice, Venice and, in concert, with the Hallé Orchestra and Mark Elder.

In concert, her performances have included Handel’s ‘Messiah’, Verdi’s Requiem and Rossini’s ‘Petite Messe Solenelle’ and the conductors with whom she has worked include Yves Abel, Adam Fischer, Michail Jurowski, Marc Albrecht, Peter Schneider, Donald Runnicles and Paul Daniel.
