Anna Samuil
Born into a family of musicians, soprano Anna Samuil graduated from Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatoire as violinist Diploma of Excellence in 2000, and then as an opera singer in 2001, and she completed her postgraduate studies with Professor Irina Arkhipova. Ms. Samuil appeared at the Moscow Stanislavsky Music Theatre as Adina in 'L’Elisir d’Amore', Adele in 'Die Fledermaus', Gilda in 'Rigoletto' and as Shemakh’s Queen in a new production of 'Le Coq d’Or'.
Anna Samuil is a prizewinner of many international competitions, including "Franco Corelli" in Italy, "Neue Stimmen" in Gutersloh, "Claudia Taev" in Estonia, "Mikhail Glinka", "XII Tchaikovsky International Competition" in Moscow, "Concorso Riccardo Zandonai" and the "Daphne" price of the TheaterGemeinde e.V. Berlin
Ms. Samuil frequently performs at the Deutsche Staatsoper, Berlin where her roles include Violetta in 'La Traviata', Donna Anna in 'Don Giovanni', Adina in 'L’Elisir d’Amore', Musetta in 'La Bohème', Micaëla in 'Carmen', Eva in 'Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg', Alice Ford in 'Falstaff' and Fiordiligi in 'Cosí fan Tutte'. Elsewhere, Ms. Samuil has sung Violetta in a production by Festival d’Art Lirique d’Aix-en-Provence with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and Daniel Harding, Musetta in 'La Bohème' and Violetta in new productions with Vest Norges Opera Norway, Violetta in the Grand Theatre Luxembourg and at the Festival de Musique de La Reunion, Maria in 'Mazeppa' at L'Opéra National de Lyon with Peter Stein, and Violetta in 'La Traviata' at Hamburger Staatsoper. Other concert appearances include Ophelia in Prokofiev’s 'Hamlet' in Palais des Beaux Arts in Bruxelles with La Monnaie Orchestra and Kazushi Ono.
Ms. Samuil has made some important debuts: at the Edinburgh Festival as Maria in Lyon's 'Mazeppa', Teatro alla Scala as Donna Anna in a new production of 'Don Giovanni' Metropolitan Opera as Musetta in 'La Bohème' and last years Salzburg Festival as Tatiana in a new production of 'Eugene Onegin' with Maestro Barenboim, in which she was a tremendous successful.
Last November she has been on a tour of Japan where she sung Donna Anna under the baton of Maestro Barenboim.
Her future engagements include various leading roles at the Lindenoper, Donna Anna with the Israeli Philharmonics under the baton of Zubin Metha, La Juive in Amsterdam and Eugene Onegin in Pittsburgh
Ms Samuil is giving recitals throughout Europe with an “all-Goethe” and “all-Russian” programme.
