Alisa Weilerstein

Alisa Weilerstein

Alisa has attracted widespread recognition for playing that combines natural virtuosity and technical assurance with impassioned musicianship. She is a regular performer with most of the top US orchestras and is rapidly making a name for herself in Europe where she has performed with Barcelona Symphony, Bournemouth Symphony, Gulbenkian Orchestra Lisbon, Leipziger Bachkollegium, Orchestre National de France, Royal Scottish National Orchestra and the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich. In 2006 she received the Leonard Bernstein Award at the Schleswig-Holstein Festival and in 2000/1 season, she was Carnegie Hall’s choice for the ECHO Rising Stars programme.

A dedicated chamber musician, Alisa regularly takes part in chamber music festivals and has a trio with Maxim Vengerov and Lilya Zilberstein with whom she has performed in Carnegie Hall, the Salle Pleyel and the Barbican.

In 2006 Lorin Maazel introduced her to Tokyo audiences as part of the New York Philharmonic’s Japan and Korea tour and Christoph Eschenbach has invited her to perform with NDR Hamburg in the 2007/8 season, following her successful performances with the Philadelphia Orchestra this season.
