Assistant Artist Manager

Askonas Holt is one of the world’s leading arts management agencies. We represent some of the finest musicians as well as managing tours for orchestras and dance companies. The work atmosphere is friendly, informal and committed. Our office is based in central London and we employ over 50 people.

We are looking to employ an assistant for one Senior Manager (Rona Eastwood).

Job Description

The manager is responsible for a list of artists with varying levels of international recognition, age and experience. The more established artists have specialised and detailed needs while the younger careers require development, planning and nurturing.

Applicants must have excellent written communication skills as responsibilities of the position include writing biographies, schedules, letters and emails. Furthermore, the job involves telephone contact with artists, promoters and people from all walks of life, so excellent verbal communication skills are a necessity.

The successful applicant must be extremely well-organised with excellent administrative skills and have the ability to remain calm under pressure. Other requirements are good computer skills, ideally including familiarity with databases and Lotus Notes; clarity of approach; initiative and quickness of mind; and the ability to think laterally and solve problems.

There are regular opportunities to attend evening concerts in London and, while this is not obligatory, it offers a good chance to meet and get to know the artists, especially those based outside the UK.

A background in classical music is necessary and knowledge of languages preferable.

As experience increases, so too will the job satisfaction and areas of responsibility.

Duties include:

- Preparing, updating and distributing publicity material
- Updating website
- Inputting booking data into the computer
- Liaising with artists regarding schedule planning, including meetings with soloists etc
- Collating rehearsal and concert details
- Checking and processing contracts
- Assisting artists with applying for social security certificates
- Faxing and mailing of correspondence
- Co-ordination between the travel department and the artist to produce itineraries
- Occasional lunchtime switchboard cover

Staff are appointed on an initial three-month trial basis.

Closing date for applications: Friday 9 May 2008

Please send your covering letter and CV to hr@askonasholt.co.uk.
