New Tenor Signing

Askonas Holt is thrilled to announce the general management of tenor Sergei Romanovsky.

Born in 1984 in Mineralny Vody, Russia, Romansovsky began his musical life as a violinist, moving on to study singing at the College of Music of his native city in 2004. Now attending the Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatory studying with Dmitry Vdovin, the young singer also takes part in the International School of Vocal Art in Moscow, where he has worked with George Darden (Metropolitan Opera), Rudolph Piernay (London), Gloria Borelli and Caroline Dumas(Ecole Normale Paris) to name but a few.

He has already generated international acclaim for his singing, being a prize-winner in several major competitions including 2nd prize of the International Bella Voce Vocal competition in Moscow (2005) and 3rd prize of the Opened National Vocal Competition “St. Petersberg” (2007), as well as being a beneficiary of the New Names Charity Foundation since 2005, touring Germany with the New Names Foundation’s Concert program.

Sergei has participated in several productions at the Moscow Conservatory and College of Music Opera Studio –IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA (Almamiva), EUGENE ONEGIN (Lensky), SNOW MAID (Berendey), COSI FAN TUTTE (Fernando), and Mozart’s REQUIEM, as well as professionally as Young Gipsy in the concert performance of ALEKO by Rachmaninov in San Sebastian (Spain) with the Russian National Orchestra, under the baton of Mikhail Pletnev in August of last year.

The 2008/2009 season will see this promising young artist appearing as Lensky (cover) in the production of EUGENE ONEGIN at Teatro Carlo Felice (Genoa, Italy) in April-May 2008, and again with the Opera National de Lille.
