Royal Philharmonic Society Awards

The Royal Philharmonic Society Music Awards were announced at the Dorchester Hotel in London last night. It was a wonderful night for Askonas Holt, since not only was Ann Murray making the presentations, but our artists were successful across the board; conductors, instrumentalists and singers. Gustavo Dudamel was awarded the prize in the Young Artists Category and José Antonio Abreu, founder of the Simon Bolivar National Youth Orchestra of Venezuela of which Gustavo is Music Director, was given Honorary Membership of the Society. Christine Brewer was shortlisted in the Singer category and was also voted BBC Radio 3 Artist of the Year by the Radio 3 Listeners. Pianist Imogen Cooper was the winner of the Instrumentalist Category for her live performances in 2007.
