Gramophone Classical Music Awards 2015

The recording category winners were revealed today and include a number of Askonas Holt artists…
Sarah Connolly and David Soar are the soloists in Elgar’s ‘The Dream of Gerontius’ which won the choral category:
“David Soar, too, sings with lofty projection and unstinting eloquence (his Angel of the Agony is an especially pleasing achievement). Arguably best of all, though, is Sarah Connolly, who brings a deeply affecting radiance, sense of wonder and intelligence to everything she does.”
Maria João Pires’ recording of Beethoven’s Piano Concertos Nos 3 & 4 with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and Daniel Harding is the concerto category winner:
‘Few pianists have ever been more true to their own lights and it is hardly surprising that her many performances of this concerto in London and elsewhere have become the stuff of legends’
Piotr Anderszewski’s recording of Bach’s English Suites Nos 1, 3 & 5 is the instrumental category winner:
‘The way he has considered the touch and dynamic of every phrase means that these are readings that constantly impress with fresh details each time you hear them’.
Congratulations to all!
