Gergely Madaras conducts Hungarian National Philharmonic in Kodály tribute

On Sunday 5 March, Gergely Madaras will conduct the Hungarian National Philharmonic in a concert marking the 50th anniversary of Zoltán Kodály’s death.

Taking place at the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, the programme includes Kodály’s Dances of Marosszék and Te Deum.

Speaking to Hungarian online magazine Fidelio.hu ahead of the concert, Gergely talks about how his early encounters with folk music gave him an insight into the composer’s musical language, and about Kodály’s versatility and modernity.
