Ludovic Morlot’s first commercial disc, Bruneau’s Requiem, is now available; recorded with the Orchestra of La Monnaie, of whom he is Chief Conductor and the Vlaams Radio Choir.
Alfred Bruneau was born in Paris in 1857 and wrote his Requiem in the 1880s, a work that established him as a serious composer. This is coupled with a suite from Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande (arranged by Marius Constant).
