Diapasons D’Or for Askonas Holt artists & projects

Winners of The Diapasons D’Or 2015 were announced last night on France Musique and we were delighted to see so many Askonas Holt artists and projects receiving an award for their recordings; Sir Simon Rattle, Julie Fuchs, the El Sistema Salzburg Residency and Ludovic Tézier.
Simon Rattle received the award for ‘Symphonic music’, his collaboration with the pianist Krystian Zimerman and the Berliner Philharmoniker, conducting Lutoslawski’s Concerto for Piano and Orchestra, and his Symphony no.2. Simon Rattle also received the ‘DVD recording’ award for ‘El Sistema at Salzburg’ which celebrates his success at the El Sistema Salzburg Residency 2013 with the National Children’s Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela, where he conducted Mahler’s Symphony no.1.
Julie Fuchs received the ‘Vocal recital’ award for her first solo disc – ‘Yes’ – which was released on Deutsche Grammophon in September 2015. Julie has enjoyed an exciting start to her 15-16 season: before releasing her first solo disc she made her long anticipated debut at the Paris Opera in Laurent Pelly’s sparkling production of ‘Platée’, where she stole the show as La Folie: “Mais la révélation de cette soirée a été, sans conteste, une Julie Fuchs étourdissante dans le rôle de la Folie.” (Concertonet.com, Gaspard Favre, 9 September 2015)
Ludovic Tézier – along with Sir Antonio Pappano, Jonas Kaufmann, Anja Harteros and the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia – received the ‘opera’ award for their recording of ‘Aida’. The recording saw Ludovic make his role debut as Amonasro in a concert performance which took place in February, and was released on Warner Classics in October.
The Diapasons d’Or winners are selected by a jury composed of critics associated with Diapason magazine and producers from France Musique. Find out more on the France Musique website
