CD success for Iain Burnside

We were delighted to see that Lucy Crowe, William Berger and Iain Burnside‘s album ‘Duet‘ entered the Specialist Classical Charts last week at No. 23. The recording also made an impact on Stephen Pettitt who wrote in The Sunday Times:
“Crowe and Berger make for characterful, pleasing-sounding and intelligent duettists in these suave and sometimes deeply touching pieces… Burnside, astute as ever, beguilingly underpins every nuance.”
‘Duet’ was also featured in the March issue of Gramophone magazine, which writes: “The prime pleasure of the disc is Crowe’s silvery beauty of tone… [Berger’s] soft-grained baritone is nicely matched.”
Iain Burnside also appears on ‘Nacht und Träume: Schubert Lieder‘ with soprano Ailish Tynan, the first in a series of recordings dipping into Schubert’s songs. It is reviewed this week by Music & Vision, which writes:
“This first issue in Iain Burnside’s meticulously crafted foray of Schubert song is nothing short of captivating, with delight after delight following each other in quick succession, and his support of Ailish Tynan’s interpretations, which are full of sensibility, ardour and vocal nuance, is insightful and sensitively gentle.”
