Introduction
Minsk born mezzo-soprano Oksana Volkova is currently a member of the Academy at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow.
Oksana has won many national and international singing competitions including the first prizes at the XXII International M. Glinka Competition and Antonin Dvorak International Competition.
In season 12/13 she will make her debut at the Metropolitan Opera New York as Maddalena in Rigoletto and will also cover the title role in Carmen. She will return to the MET in a later season as Olga in Eugene Onegin in a new production by Deborah Warner, conducted by Valery Gergiev.
Further to this, she will sing Lyubasha in Tsars Bride and Olga in Onegin at the Bolshoi Theatre Moscow and the title role in Carmen at the Mariinsky Theatre, St Petersburg and Latvian National Opera, Riga.
Highlights of past seasons season included the role of Laura in La Gioconda at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Marguerite in La Damnation de Faust at Opera de Nice, Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana at Teatro San Carlo Napoli, Carmen at Latvian National Opera Riga and Samara Theatre and various performances at the Bolshoi Theatre. In concert she appeared with the Odense Symphony Orchestra in Copenhagen and with the Bremen Kammerphilharmonie at their Lesmona Festival.
