La Cenerentola

Benedum Center, Pittsburgh

"that make this one of the most enjoyable operas to come through. That was highlighted by the ridiculous vanity of the Don Magnifico (Paolo Pecchioli)" Andrew Druckenbrod for Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
"Bass Paolo Pecchioli was a hoot as Don Magnifico, a classic Italiano buffo performance worth the price of admission alone. His singing was enlivened with wonderful exaggerations of color and accent that were at one with his incredibly flexible body language. He's a bit fey as well in this version, and hopes at one point the Prince will pick him." Mark Kanny for HispanicBusiness' Arts & Entertainment

L'italiana in Algeri

Austin Lyric Opera

"The stars in this production are undoubtedly Sandra Piques Eddy as Isabella and Paolo Pecchioli as the Bey Mustafà; both are gifted singers and accomplished comic actors, and under stage director Herbert Kellner, they rarely missed an opportunity to elicit a laugh."
Paul E. Robinson for La Scena Musicale
"The leads are brilliant. Pecchioli’s Mustafa dances and moves like Michael Jackson in “Thriller.” His face is elastic, and from pompous to effeminate, he’s hilarious."

Luke Quinton for the Statesman

Il Barbiere di Siviglia

Pittsburg Opera

"The seasoned pros were Kevin Glavin as Dr. Bartolo and Paolo Pecchioli as Don Basilio. [...]
Pecchioli, who is really a basso cantante with a gorgeous timbre, is also one of the funniest men on the opera stage today. As in last year's Italiana in Algieri, his mugging and antics were over the top. He was such a hilarious scene-stealer that it was hard to notice anyone else while he was onstage. He also sang quite magnificently, producing cantabile lines along with the antics, topping his calunnia aria with a solid sustained high G — which he was even able to integrate into his actions. "
Robert Croan for Opera News
"Kevin Glavin's Dr. Bartolo and Paolo Pecchioli's Basilio ranged from gloriously over the top to just plain goofball and had sections of the audience roaring with side-splitting laughter throughout. [...]
Mr. Pecchioli went even further. Looking like a crazed Abbe Liszt, he stole every scene he was in with wild eyes, strange hair stroking and an addiction to marmalade. His histrionics actually interrupted the finale of Act I, which went too slowly, but one hardly cared. It just was too darn enjoyable to watch the bass' downright weird and goofy behavior. Both he and Mr. Glavin have booming and yet nimble voices, but truthfully they could have been mute and you'd still laugh."
Andrew Druckenbrod for Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
