Introduction

Born in 1985 in Yerevan, Armenia, Lilit Grigoryan began studying piano at the age of seven with Arkuhi Harutyunyan. She was an ‘Artist in residence’ at the Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth under the direction of Maria João Pires, after having graduated from Komitas Yerevan State Conservatory and Hochschule für Musik und Theater Rostock with first class honors. An intense and inspiring collaboration with Maria João Pires gave Lilit the opportunity to find new ways of communicating and sharing her passion for classical music with others, and she became a founding member of the Partitura Project.

She has also worked with orchestras including Sinfonia Varsovia, Gulbenkian Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Liege and Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition to her activities as a soloist, Lilit is also a devoted chamber musician and she regularly collaborates with artists including Maria João Pires, Alexandra Conunova, Andrei Ionita, William Hagen, Sarah Christian, Hiyoli Togawa as well as others. Laureate of several international competitions, Lilit has been awarded with the Culture Prize of the President of Armenia.

In February 2012, Lilit’s debut recording was released on DiscAuvers including works by Scarlatti, Schumann, Bartok and Khachaturian. She has two further recordings coming out in 2017, one with the violinist Sarah Christian on Genuin and the other with violist Hiyoli Togawa on Naxos.
