Admired for his enthusiasm and energy, Alexandre Bloch is Music Director of Orchestre National de Lille from the beginning of the 2016/17 season and Principal Guest Conductor of Düsseldorfer Symphoniker. The French conductor came to international attention as winner of Donatella Flick’s LSO Conducting Competition in October 2012, after which he served as Assistant Conductor at the London Symphony Orchestra.

The 2016/17 season includes debuts with Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Orchestre National d’Ile-de-France, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Orchestre Métropolitain and Brussels Philharmonic. Return visits include to Orchestre National de France, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Seoul Philharmonic, Royal Northern Sinfonia, BBC National Orchestra of Wales and Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. He will also conduct Donizetti’s l’Elisir d’Amore at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and a concert version of Bizet’s Les Pêcheurs de Perles with the Orchestre National de Lille.

In 2016 Alexandre Bloch was announced as Music Director of Orchestre National de Lille, taking up his post at the beginning of the 2016/17 season.

Alexandre commented: “I am so thrilled and honoured to become the new Music Director of the Orchestre National de Lille, starting next September. It is a privilege for me to have the chance to work closely with the musicians of this orchestra, and I am very much looking forward to all the musical, cultural and social projects we will accomplish together in Lille and its region.”

Düsseldorfer Symphoniker

In February 2015 Alexandre was announced as Principal Guest Conductor of Düsseldorfer Symphoniker from 2015/16 season for an initial term of three years. He works alongside celebrated Hungarian conductor Adam Fischer who was appointed Chief Conductor.
