This week, Spanish conductor Antonio Méndez
makes his Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra
debut. He is joined by pianist Alexander Gavrylyuk
for three performances of Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 2 alongside Mahler’s Symphony No.1. 2015 has been a year of significant debuts for Antonio, beginning in January with his Asian debut with the New Japan Philharmonic, followed by his Viennese debut with the Wiener Symphoniker, and his Russian debut with the National Philharmonic of Russia in March.
Looking ahead, Antonio will conduct the Staatskapelle Dresden, Scottish Chamber Orchestra and Iceland Symphony Orchestra as well as making returns to the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra and Tonkünstler Orchestra amongst others.
