This week, Antonello Manacorda makes his debut with the Bayerische Staatsoper conducting Le nozze di Figaro. The opera premieres on Sunday 13 November, with a cast that also includes Ukrainian bass Alexander Tsymbalyuk.
Antonello’s 16/17 season has started off on a high note – his recording of the Mendelssohn Symphonies 1 & 4 with the Kammerakademie Potsdam, released in September, has been described as “vibrant” and with “relentless energy” (bresciaoggi.it). Tagesspiegel also said of the recording; “Fascinating how much energy conductor Antonello Manacorda can pump into the orchestra. And the musicians can only be electrified”.
Future symphonic highlights in Antonello’s 16/17 season include debuts with the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, SWR Symphonieorchester and Camerata Salzburg. Future opera collaborations include La Monnaie, Komische Oper, and Oper Frankfurt.
Le nozze di Figaro opens at Bayerische Staatsoper on Sunday 13 November, running until 20 November. More information on the Staatsoper’s website.
