This week sees Antonello Manacorda give his highly anticipated subscription debut with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin. Conducting an all-Schumann programme, including the Manfred Overture and Symphony No. 2, Manacorda will also be joined on stage by Piotr Anderszewski for Schumann’s Piano Concerto. Fresh from a highly successful run of performances at the Palais de la Monnaie conducting Mozart’s Lucio Silla, Manacorda will go on to give his debut with the Dresden Philharmonie next week (26 November), followed by the Orchestre National Bordeaux-Aquitaine (6 December). Other highlights this season include his subscription debut with the Wiener Symphoniker at the Wiener Konzerthaus and return visits to Frankfurt Opera to conduct Meyerbeer’s L’Africaine and Theater an der Wien to conduct Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
