Andrei Ioniță makes his debut with The Hallé

This week, Andrei Ioniță makes his debut with The Hallé at Bridgewater Hall — under Cristian Măcelaru — with three performances of Elgar’s Cello Concerto on 24, 25 and 28 January.

As a BBC Next Generation Artist, Andrei has already been involved in a range of projects in the UK, including studio recordings, studio concerts with the BBC Philharmonic, and a recital at Wigmore Hall last December — which Classical Source praised as a performance of “remarkable maturity and individuality”.

Upcoming projects for Andrei include a seven-stop German tour in February with the NFM Wrocław Philharmonic (under Daniel Raiskin), a return to the MDR Sinfonieorchester (under Dmitri Liss), concerts with the San Diego Symphony (under Cristian Măcelaru), and a recital tour of the USA, culminating with a performance at Carnegie Hall.
