Adam Plachetka makes his long anticipated La Scala debut



Adam Plachetka makes his long anticipated La Scala debut on 19 June 2014 as Guglielmo in Claus Guth’s production of Così fan tutte, conducted by Daniel Barenboim. The opening night is 19 June with additional performances on 21, 24, 27, 30 June and 3, 8, 14, 18 July 2014.
 
The talented young baritone is at the cusp of a major international career with several exciting debuts on the horizon. As an ensemble member at the Wiener Staatsoper since September 2010, Adam has performed many roles including the title role in Don Giovanni at the age of just 26. Recent career highlights include the title role in Le Nozze di Figaro at the Deutsche Staatsoper, Wiener Staatsoper and Glyndebourne Festival; Don Giovanni at the Deutsche Oper Berlin; his debut at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden as Masetto in Don Giovanni; the Count in Le Nozze di Figaro for Opera de Montpellier; Bach’s B minor mass with Chicago Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Muti; Guglielmo in Così fan tutte at the Baden-Baden Festival, conducted by Yannick Nezet-Seguin and recorded by Deutsche Grammophon; and Guglielmo in concert with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Robin Ticciati
Next season Adam makes his Metropolitan Opera debut, returns to the Salzburg Festival in a title role and performs a recital at Wigmore Hall, acompanied by Gary Matthewman. Future seasons include significant roles at Houston Grand Opera, Chicago Lyric Opera, Wiener Staatsoper and at Covent Garden, as well as several re-appearances at the Metropolitan Opera.
