Graeme Jenkins

"An excellent musician!" Musical America

The British conductor Graeme Jenkins has conducted nearly 160 Opera productions of 105 different works, with companies ranging from Glyndebourne and ENO through to Australian Opera, Canadian Opera, Danish Opera, Cologne Opera, Netherlands Opera, Paris Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin and Wiener Staatsoper.

Having recently renewed his Music Directorship contract at Dallas Opera, he will take the company through to May 2011 and oversee their transition into their new home, the Winspear Opera House at the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts in 2009. A regular at Wiener Staatsoper following a stunning debut with Billy Budd, he returns for Jenufa and Holländer in 2009 and 2010 and last season conducted a new production of Figaro at Theater an der Wien. His close association with Royal Danish Opera began with Clemenza in 2004 and continued with Figaro and Don Carlos. This season he makes his debut with Royal Swedish Opera in performances of La Cenerentola and The Barber of Seville as well as with the Bayerische Staatsoper in Hansel und Gretel.

Graeme Jenkins is also in great demand as an orchestral conductor, and in recent seasons has worked with the Minnesota, Dallas, Houston, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Danish National Radio Symphony, Gulbenkian, National Orchestra of Porto, Melbourne and West Australian Symphony Orchestras. This year sees return visits to Galicia Symphony and Brabants Orkest whilst reinvitations over the last two seasons have included Finnish Radio Symphony, Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte Carlo, Danish Opera Orchestra and Utah Symphony.
