2016 International Opera Award Winners Announced



Many congratulations to Asmik Grigorian who has won the Young Female Singer Award at the 2016 International Opera Awards, held last night at the Savoy Theatre.
The International Opera Awards began in 2013 and are an annual celebration aiming to raise the profile of opera, and recognising and rewarding the success from those involved.
Three other Askonas Holt artists also feature in the winners list: 
Opera Rara’s recording of Donizetti’s ‘Les Martyrs’, starring Brindley Sherratt, won the CD (Complete Opera) Award.
Staatsoper Berlin’s recording of Rimsky-Korsakov’s ‘The Tsar’s Bride’, conducted by Daniel Barenboim, won the DVD Award.
Jennifer Higdon’s ‘Cold Mountain’ at Sante Fe Opera, which starred Isabel Leonard, won the World Premiere Award.
